"Toro y Caballo" student book reviews the colors, numbers up to 20 and previously taught greetings. It reviews basic questions, commands and introduces essential language structures needed for basic communication including: "es grande, es pequeño, juega, vive en, está cansado" as well as a review of the grammatical structures taught in previous workbooks "Yo quiero Pizza and ¿Qué comes?".
In addition, it reviews formulaic expressions including: How are you? What are you called? How old are you? Students discuss sports and mascots in Spanish speaking countries.
This workbook is recommended for students in 2nd grade after completing "¿Qué comes?" workbook (first semester of the school year).
There are two short stories in the workbook with illustrations that allow students to practice reading Spanish. Furthermore, there are several formats of written activities throughout the workbook, including a blank space where the students can draw and write the stories created in class. As part of a cultural activity, the students will craft a bull and discuss the importance of soccer in the Spanish-speaking world.
