    "Comida en el ombligo" student book reviews the colors, numbers up to 50 and previously taught greetings. It reviews basic questions, commands and introduces essential language structures needed for basic communication including: "tiene hambre, come, es alérgico a, ve, tiene sed, bebe, pierde, busca and encuentra", while reviewing grammatical structures taught in previous workbooks. 

    In addition, it reviews formulaic expressions including: How are you? What are you called? How old are you? This workbook discusses parts of the body, food and health issues. 

    This workbook is recommended for students in 4th grade after completing "La vida loca" workbook (first semester of the school year). 

    There are three illustrated short stories in the workbook that allows students to practice reading in Spanish. Furthermore, there are several formats of written activities throughout the workbook, including a blank space where the students can draw and write the stories created in class. As part of a cultural activity, students will discuss food and health issues.
